Earlier this year, I penned an article titled “14 Things from 2014 That I’m Bringing Back,” a nostalgic reflection on my teenage years and a yearning for the authentic pop music and culture that defined that era. As a self-proclaimed pop girlie, I’ve always found solace in feel-good music and the catchy tunes that dominate the ‘Top 40’ charts. However, in recent years, I’ve struggled to connect with the newer wave of pop music, which often feels engineered for virality on platforms like TikTok. These songs, while catchy, often lack the depth and soul that I crave.
A Year of Musical Revival
In 2024, I found myself rekindling my love for pop music as it evolved into something more meaningful. This year has been a treasure trove of iconic moments, each contributing to a cultural landscape that feels rich and vibrant.
